Being a military spouse you think about all the places you’ll go. You don’t get to pick but sometimes you get lucky. Last year, our luck hit! We got orders to Florida!!
We have been here almost 8 months and it’s like paradise every single day. J and I joke because everyone that’s lived here there whole life is like “I never go to the water or the beach.” We could just never see that being us.
Since we have been here, we have gone through two boats. We didn’t know a jet ski boat would hurt like heck on the waves of Florida. Well it does. We now have a center console and absolutely love it. We go to the water at-least once a weekend. I think the plan is to start fishing when it starts cooling down. I’ve never fished a day in my life, but it sounds like the Floridarian thing to do. Lol
I’m not going to lie. Moving from New Mexico the humidity hit hard. I lived in Mississippi 18 years but I guess my body wasn’t used to the humidity anymore. I literally felt like I couldn’t breathe most the time this summer. However, like I’ve said before, I do have a thyroid condition and my weather tolerances aren’t the best so totally could be that as well! But once you get past the humidity, the weather is nothing but nice. Most days have been sunny with the occasional rainy days. We just hit hurricane season so we will see about those weather changes though. I haven’t even had to think about tornados or hurricanes in over 5.5 years.
It’s October and it’s 75. It doesn’t get much better than that. It hit 68 the other night and I was bundling up with my jacket.. I don’t do the cold which is one of my favorite things about Florida. When we moved here in January it still wasn’t “that” cold. Not compared to cold in other states.
Okay next reason is because the food is bomb. I literally could eat oysters and seafood all day everyday. Plus it’s healthier than eating fried food all the time! I mean I’m not saying you can’t get it fried 😉 I also have been deprived from white cheese dip for 5.5 years so I’m literally ecstatic that we can enjoy our favorite Mexican food with a little white cheese dip!
It truthfully feels like a vacation everyday especially on the weekend. Even on my worst days, I can walk by the bay and it’s a total mind shift with a view like that. I think living in Florida will be hard to beat.
